Precedent P. aeruginosa (PsA) reduction improves patient outcomes, and ongoing real - world evidence (RWE) analysis may support approval based on this microbiology endpoint 1. Journal of Cystic Fibrosis 22 (2023) 98 – 102; Pediatric Pulmonology 47:44 – 52 (2012) 2. Arikayce (amikacin liposome inhalation suspension) received accelerated approval from the FDA in September 2018 for treating Mycobacte ri um avium complex (MAC) lung disease in adults with limited or no alternative treatment options. This approval was based on the drug's ability to achieve sputum culture conversion (defined as 3 consecutive negative monthly sput um cultures) by Month 6, when combined with a multidrug therapy regimen. Continued approval is contingent upon the results of ongoing confirmatory trials verifying clinical benefit.
